Proud to carry USDA Certified Biobased Product Label
In February 2011 the USDA introduced a new standard for ‘Green’ with the Certified Biobased Product labeling program. The USDA certifies and awards label privileges to products passing 3rd party ASTM testing standards to assure designated levels of sustainable biobased content.
Labeled products usually carry USDA BioPreferred. Status sanctioning preferential consideration for Federal Government Procurement. State and Municipal purchasing agencies have also initiated programs based on the U.S. Government's BioPreferred℠ standard.
"Preferred" status takes the burden off consumers, instills confidence in ‘green’ product claims, and helps manufacturers to identify authentic biobased materials.Look for these USDA labels on designated Honey Bee™ soy polyol products.
Extensive opportunities are available for biobased polyurethane products in U.S. Federal Government procurement
Consider the possibilities for growing business when Federal Government and Contractors purchase:
- $500 Billion in Goods and Services annually
- Occupy 500,000 buildings
- Operate 600,000 vehicles
- Must buy USDA BioPreferred℠ Products
Honeybee™ soy polyol boosts sustainable biocontent in polyurethane foams and elastomers used in: construction, automotive, transportation, marine, aerospace, medical, textiles/fibers, appliances, packaging, furnishings, bedding, carpet cushion, electronics, footwear, energy production & conservation, coatings, adhesives, sealants, wheels, tires, lubricants, and infinite industrial & agricultural applications.

THE ADVANTAGES OF USDA BIOPREFERRED INTERMEDIATES
Preferred Procurement Status, Green Standards Satisfied and Global Opportunities
What is the advantage of using USDA BioPreferred℠ Intermediates & Feedstocks in Polyurethane?
Preferred Procurement Status
Federal Agencies and their contractors are required by law (Farm Bills 2002, 2008.section 9002) to give preferential consideration to BioPreferred℠ products. This requirement includes any business with any government agency such as GSA, DOD, DOE, their associated contractors, and municipal agencies choosing to follow the federal lead. Consider the trickle down effect of elevated procurement status through almost any supply chain: automotive/transportation, construction/furnishings, appliances, industrial chemicals (fuels, cleansers, lubricants), agriculture, medical, textiles, and more.
‘Green’ Standards Satisfied
USDA ‘certified’ listing or label ensures bio-content standards have been met before a product can be claimed ‘green’. To use the BioPreferred℠ label, companies must first provide the USDA with confirmed bio-content produced by an approved 3rd party testing facility and reported under ASTM D-6866 standards. BioPreferred℠ certification/listing ensures the right questions have been asked and sufficiently answered.
U.S. Government Agencies are global, as is procurement. Sustainability issues are also global. It is possible that products meeting U.S. Federal Standards will benefit as elevated status in other procurement programs too.
